What to Do if Your Website is Down?

It happens to every website. And every website owner can hardly breathe until it’s resolved. The site is down. You don’t know whether it’s been hacked, or you forgot to renew something, or if the host is just having a bad day. Here are a few tips on what you can do if your website goes offline that will get you up and running as quickly as possible.

  • Grab a smartphone or tablet with a 3G/4G network, make sure you are not connected or share the same network with your computer via WIFI. If you are able to browse the website on your phone or tablet, this is likely something to do with the browser or computer.
  • Try a different browser.
  • If you are still connected to the internet, try a proxy like https://www.hidemyass.com/proxy. They are usually slower since most located outside Singapore but you should be able to use this alternative source to confirm your site is down.
I've done all the above and I'm sure my site is down, what should I do next?

At this point of time, that's nothing much you can do except sending us an email to report the incident. Before you write to support@vastspace.net, please make sure you take a screenshot of this webpage http://www.whatismyip.com.sg and send it together with your email. The screenshot shows your current IP address with your internet service provider, this extra info will help us to narrow down the possibility if this has related to network or firewall.
